When we arrived at the Kata event we didn't expect to be so excited when we got a little glimpse of the tablet. Our excitement was undermined when the T4 was finally announced in flesh in blood where we could have our hands-on on it. The build quality and design is spectacular where majority of its body made of aluminium with polycarbonate details.

E-book reading: lasts more than the working day
Productivity like E-Mail, Word Processing and Web Browsing: lasts four to six hours
Local and online video consumption: lasts for three to four hours

Main Camera: Passable Performance - Fast Shutter, Visible Noise, Passable Color reproduction and Dynamic Range and frustrating low-light performance

Software

Kata Skin is near stock
Easy to Navigate and little learning curve
Built-in VPN subscription service to use the services Netflix, History, FoxNow and the like within the Philippines
Built-in Kata Apps are a hit or miss

Performance

Most Apps runs smoothly but slower than flagships
Modern Non Graphic Intensive games work well
Modern Graphics Intensive games stutter and fall apart

What We Liked:

Build Quality
Value - Bang per buck is high

Perfect alternative for E-Book reading
Built-in VPN subscription service works but at a price

What We didn't Like:

8GB starting storage when tablet is marketed for media consumption
Audio Volume could be better
Netflix, History, FoxNow, The CW and the like are a hit or a miss even when VPN service is active

1024 by 768 Resolution. Display Pixel density should start at 1080P standard for a product marketed for media consumption

Recommendations:

Great for E-book reading and light productivity
If you are willing to compromise on media consumption quality then this is the best for the price!

The America based company that started out providing call services to customers under the leadership of David Chen, now designs and manufactures excellent mobile devices that include smartphones and tablets just launched officially the Kata T4!

Kata T4

The Kata T4, Dubbed as their “hippest phablet ever”, the smartphone maverick brand is very excited to bring another exciting product into the market. This new gadget is all set to match up to its competitors in this rapidly mature tech market space. Sharing his excitement, Kata CEO said that in bringing Kata T4 to the local shores, the consumer tech market in the Philippines is very discerning – so it makes sense for Kata to bring great value products to a tech mature audience. “The digital market is one of the fastest growing outside the smartphone consumer space, therefore it is crucial to be a part of the next generation of consumer tech providers.”

This ‘power packed’ phablet boasts a 7.85-inch Super HD Display which allows crisp, detailed colors to be viewed in a large, clear screen. Integrating high performance hardware and software, the new Kata T4 introduces an intuitive and exciting user interface and runs on the all new Android KitKat 4.4 operating system – delivering high quality entertainment and usability through its apps. Kata wants its customers to enrich their user experience beyond than just normal tablets by adding in text and call features. The phablet has dual sim card slots, with enhanced GSM capabilities.

The feather light device weighs only 400g, and fits like a glove in the palm of your hand at 7.7mm x 135mm x 200mm. It is also available in Grey and Gold, with a premium, matte finish.

Kata has the advantage of being price savvy in this highly competitive market - whereas other brands are constantly competing to showcase the best of their app offerings at more exorbitant prices. For Kata, it’s all about providing a quality high tech product without ‘burning a hole in your pocket’. Price: P5,999.
